Light a candle.
Watch it flicker and as it moves and flows with the dazed light surrounding it, bring yourself to the present moment and all the emotions, feelings and movements within your body that come with it.
That right there is all we have. The present.
And how beautiful is that? That you don’t have to worry about the past or future, because all we have is the now.
Mindfulness is one of the most important practises ever. As a society, it needs to be injected into schools, colleges and workplaces as much as they inject capitalism and topics that don’t fill the soul with what we need to function day to day.
I have recently been in recovery from one of the worst depression slumps I’ve ever found myself in, and last night I laid in my bath and I realised that my younger self would kill for what I have now. I don’t give myself enough credit for how hard I’ve worked, and what it has taken to get me to where I am now. But we get so wound up and stressed about what more we need to achieve, and what else needs to be done within a certain time capacity that we forget the now.
Those things will come, those dreams will come true, you will become your higher self as soon as you slow down, and live in the now.
And so I watched the candles flicker and I felt the sensations around me, what the salts felt like against my skin, the scent of coconut comforted me because it’s my signature smell. The essential oils I had put in my bath soothed my aches in my back, and I realised this moment was beautiful.
Every moment is beautiful.
Slow down, breathe, and ground yourself. These 3 things are the key to not only healing, but bring the most productive, healthiest and happiest versions of you there can be.
I will be back with more content regarding mindfulness and so much more now that I am back on my feet again, be gentle with yourself loves.
